How to Prepare Before Having Your Carpet Cleaned

Carpet cleaning service professionals can do a great job, no matter your home’s condition (generally).

But, there are some things you can do to help expedite the carpet drying process and overall get a better, more thorough clean.

If you want the best results before your visit from us, here is a little homework on how to prepare before having your carpet cleaned:

1. Secure your pets. Whether you decide to leave and take your dog for a walk or for a nice car ride, or decide to stay home in another room that’s not being cleaned or outside, it’s important to keep your furry friends away from the carpet during the cleaning process.
2. Let us know beforehand if you need any large pieces of furniture cleaned underneath. If you have a couch that weighs a ton, or a piano that may be difficult to lean under, just let us know beforehand so we can better serve you. Things that may require one or two workers to move should be noted beforehand.
3. Dehumidify your home beforehand. Humidity is not your friend when it comes to getting a dry carpet right away after cleaning. You will want to run your heater or air conditioning unit beforehand. Reason being is that this removes the moisture circulating in the air and will allow your carpet to dry much faster.
4. Unplug any electronic devices, TVs, etc. This creates a safe environment for not only your things and your home, but also for our workers. With your electronic unplugged, it makes it easier to move things like computers, TVs, etc. if needed, and also prevents any potential danger in case they do come in contact with water or cleaning solution.
5. Vacuum, if you really need to. Similar to how you should brush your teeth before visiting the dentist, providing some coverage on your carpet by vacuuming can help expedite the process. If your carpet is in total disarray and is completely dirty, the results will be much better if you do some light cleaning beforehand and then leave the rest to us.
6. Remove valuable, breakable items and clear up floor space. If you have a lot of gizmos and gadgets lying around, it makes it difficult to maneuver and get all the nooks and crannies in your carpet. So, if you have any small tables, lamps, etc. move them off into another room or another are that’s not where you want cleaned.
So in conclusion: secure your pets, let us know if you have any larger items that may need to bemoved, run your air conditioning unit before the appointment, ung lg electronics, do some light cleaning if needed, and clear up space and any potentially breakable items. Leave the rest to us for a completely fresh and clean carpet.
